Now Available: Graded, Colorized Washington, D.C. Goldbacks!

When we first announced Washington, D.C. Goldbacks, we shared that a small portion would be set aside for grading. We’re happy to announce that these special editions have now arrived! They make up the first 2,500 of the original 250,000 mintage, but have one important distinction: spot color on the shield. This is the first colorized Goldback ever created!

2026 Goldback Template Updates

If you’ve looked closely at the D.C. Goldbacks, you may have noticed a few updates to the template. These updates will be available for all Goldbacks minted in 2026!

Let’s break down what’s new and what’s improved.

Goldbacks are often someone’s first experience holding spendable gold, and the design plays a big role in that moment. The template got a refresh to improve both looks and legibility, including:

Colorized DC Post

We kept the elements people recognize, upgrading them to add new layers of security:

  • Higher-resolution security features
  • Hidden UV-reactive artwork 
  • Improved anti-counterfeiting design
  • A new manufacturing process to support these upgrades

This improved technology makes Goldbacks even harder to replicate, ensuring they remain a trustworthy currency.
