Three New Goldback States in 2021?

State flags in front of trees

When the Goldback project began there wasn’t a whole lot of discussion about doing other States. I think that the reason why was because we wanted to really focus our efforts on signing up businesses within just the State of Utah. We also didn’t know how successful the Goldback would become. The final concern had to do with the legal status of Goldbacks outside of the States with special laws. This last point is still confusing for many people.

Nevada was an interesting second State to choose. On one hand Nevada is the #1. producer of gold in the United States but on the other there doesn’t seem to be an obvious law in Nevada blessing the Goldback with special status. As it turns out the Goldback probably doesn’t need any special status to be used as money in most places. Gold isn’t illegal to spend or use so therefore Goldbacks aren’t illegal to use. Gold is money, well, it is supposed to be anyway. The problem with gold is that it is far too valuable for small transactions, that is, until Goldbacks were made.

Goldbacks are being spent all over the world. We are getting emails from people spending them in Israel, Australia, Africa, and India. They can be spent anywhere because they carry intrinsic value within, not because a State has blessed them.

It is looking likely at this point that every State could have a unique Goldback series before 2030. We already announced Wyoming as #4. We are anticipating announcing at least two more States that will be produced and released in 2021. We may try to get at least five more States every subsequent year. The new States will be announced sometime this summer, assuming that we can get the artwork done in a timely manner.

If you’d like to get involved it is possible to Sponsor a State. You can also lend us your gold and get a return through our GoldBack Lease Program.
