Arizona High School Students Create Goldback Artwork for Public Exhibit

Students primarily used graphite pencils, while some created digital artwork. After completing their designs, they transferred their artwork onto gold cardstock and formatted it within a Goldback-style template.
The final pieces were displayed during an art exhibit held May 11–13 at the school’s Performing Arts Center. The event attracted hundreds of attendees each night, creating a buzz surrounding both the students’ creative work and the concept of Goldbacks.
A panel of judges, including Goldback representative Phil Eborn, selected the top three designs. Winners were recognized in front of their peers and awarded Arizona Goldbacks—25 for first place, 10 for second, and 5 for third.

Beyond the classroom, Hepworth also engages the local community through Goldback-themed treasure hunts in the mountains around the Phoenix area. He hides envelopes of Goldbacks and shares clues online, encouraging participants to search for them.
For many students, this was an inspirational project that gave them real-world experience showcasing their talents for the public. Goldback is passionate about building community partnerships like this and helping people discover a practical way to push back against inflation with beautifully crafted, fractional gold.
